Michaela and I just finished having a dinner party last night with 2 close couples that we met down here and it gave me pause for reflection. I realized that after 10 years of living in Mexico I am sitting down to dinner and Spanish is the first language spoken. What a diverse group we had. Michaela is from Romania but speaks Spanish fluently; a good friend who is also Romanian, speaks Spanish fluently too since he has been living with a Mexican lady; the Mexican girlfriend only spoke Spanish; the gentleman from the the other couple is from Guatemala and speaks Spanish and English; and his girlfriend is also Mexican and she speaks Spanish and English. So the common language for everyone on the table was..... Spanish, and that's what we used! What a great evening and (I reflected) what a departure from my sheltered upbringings in Canada!
