5 Reasons To Make The Move To Lake Chapala (right now!)

Lake Chapala. Maybe you're just dreaming of making the move to Mexico and/or you just keep pushing it off for various reasons, but there has never been a better time to make the move. Don't procrastinate any more!

Why move now? First off, there has never been a better time to sell your home in the U.S or Canada. Home prices are through the roof and the bubble looks like it's set to burst in the upcoming year or two. Rising interest rates and inflation are starting to slow the economy and home values have finally reached their peak as the Feds try to carefully release the air in the real estate bubble as gently as possible. So cash in now while the market is still moving and home prices are high. There has never been a better time!

Conversely, home prices in Lake Chapala have gone up too but only by about 50%, not the 200-300% increase that NOB home owners have seen.

Secondly, the Mexican government keeps tightening the rules and increasing the requirements for Temporary and Permanent Visas. Moving sooner, rather than later, makes it easier to get residency and once you have started the process and are on the treadmill (in the case of a Temporary Residency) you'll no longer have to show your financial documents to the Mexican Government again.

Thirdly, who can take the crap in the political system in the states anymore? (or Canada for that matter). The system is so broke and so corrupt it's laughable. Make the escape and never look back. Don't concern yourself anymore with the politics and experience a sense of freedom like you've never felt before.

Forth, recognize that we are all getting older and are going to need increased medical care and prescription drugs. What will it cost you to retire in your home town? How much are retirement homes where you live? What do you pay for your medications? Guaranteed, you'll be paying half or less for medical care in Mexico and (for you Canadians) you'll have immediate access to the system through the private hospitals and healthcare services. Give it some thought and contact us to discuss the healthcare options available in Mexico.

Fifth, will Covid ever go away? We're all sick of hearing about it but it's a fact that it is throughout the population of the world. What comes next? Will it become just another common flu bug or will there be other more deadly strains evolving in the future. One thing about living in Lake Chapala is the incredible year around climate allowing us to spend virtually all our time outdoors. Dining, shopping, exercising, it's all done in the fresh air and not only are we healthier for it but it's far less likely that we will contract Covid. For extra precautions, keep a mask handy for entering enclosed spaces....and don't worry, no one will be giving you any sideways looks or saying anything to you about wearing a mask. The Mexican people and expats respect one another and people's choices.

What's stopping you from moving to Lake Chapala? Is it the fear of the unknown? At Retire In Lake Chapala, we're here to help you understand what it's like to live here and what's involved in making the move. Once you know all the information, you can make an informed decision as to whether or not to proceed. Living in Lake Chapala and expatriating to Mexico is not for everyone but for those who can overcome their anxiety and open up their minds to a different and exciting new lifestyle, it quite possibly might be the best move you've ever made.
